Protecting and preserving the Venice coastal community

Excessive and unlawful development threatens every part of our community, from overpowering and out-of-character structures to merciless displacement of long-time residents.

We aim to create awareness and action around the development and gentrification emergency, as well as a shared plan for saving the city’s character and preserving the communities and surrounding coastal environment.

Our Mission

Citizens Preserving Venice (CPV), a non-profit 501c(3) organization, was founded as a group dedicated to preserving and protecting the character and scale of Venice as a Special Coastal Community, including the history and the social, cultural, racial and economic diversity, as well as protecting affordable housing.

Ready to take the next step?

This movement is a fight for our city, its citizens, and the environment and systems that encase all of it and all of us. Whether you’re most comfortable contributing time to help achieve our advocacy goals, money to help us grow, or energy to put political pressure on our local organizations and governments to change, we need you on our team.

Let’s work together as active citizens to preserve this special neighborhood and community.

“The coast is never saved. It’s always being saved. Our work, your work, the labor of love that it is, is never finished. It is a job that will always be ongoing.”

— Peter Douglas, former California Coastal Commission Executive Director
